    Each scan of the reader over the sensor gives a current glucose reading, the last 8-hours of glucose history, and a trend arrow showing if glucose is going up, down, or changing slowly. The reader can even scan through clothing with a thickness of up to 4 mm.

    • Press the 'Home' button to turn on the reader. If prompted, use the touchscreen to select your preferred language for the reader. Touch 'OK' to continue.
    • Set the current date and time using the arrows on the touchscreen.Touch next to continue.
    • Set your target glucose range.Touch 'Done' to go to the home screen.Scan the sensor applied on the back of the upper arm with the reader.Glucose levels and trend arrow will be displayed on the screen.

    • Why does the FreeStyle Libre system require a 12-hour warm up period?

      During the first 12 hours after application, the sensor is acclimating to your body. Continuous glucose readings are unavailable during the warm-up period.

    • What do I do during the first 12 hours while the FreeStyle Libre system is warming up?

      FreeStyle Libre Reader has a built-in test strip port that utilizes FreeStyle Precision Neo test strips. During the 12-hour warm-up period, patients can use the test strip port to monitor their glucose.

    • Price factor
      The reader is a one-time cost to the consumer at ₹5,500 and the sensor is a recurring cost of ₹5,000. The sensor gives continuous readings for 14 days and analytics, mapping the sugar levels against diet, exercise etc. If u don't want to use sensor again, patients can use the test strip through port to monitor their glucose. Cost of Strips is Rs 1500 per pack of 50 and one has to use conventional pricking lancets for applying blood to Strips. 

      Can the FreeStyle Libre system be prescribed for children?
      The indication for children (age 4 - 17) is limited to those who are supervised by a caregiver who is at least 18 years of age. The caregiver is responsible for managing or assisting the child to manage the reader and sensor and also for interpreting or assisting the child to interpret sensor glucose readings

      Persons 18 and older with diabetes can manage themselves.

      Do patients need to remove the sensor during MRI/CT scan?

      Yes. The sensor should be removed prior to exposing it to strong magnetic or electromagnetic radiation, such as with a MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) or CT (Computed Tomography) scan.
